Summer Fruit & Summer Suits
Cocktails are a delicate and delicious dance between flavors made for mouth bursts. A bartender will wrestle for hours of miscalculated jigger pours, pouring over what ingredient must present itself to your taste buds most. A foreground needs a background. Sometimes it's hard to tell where one ends and the other begins. Do either ever end? Does anything?
This collaboration is visual social lubricant. A couple of old friends. A bundle of ripe fruit. Bright white shirts. Double bright laser beams. What’s it mean to induce yourself in the visual conversation of a meeting of two minds like these?
Two distinct styles shake hands and take names. Polished Peter and Roll-sleeved Ryan introduce themselves to each other, to you. Chicago visits Brooklyn. Glasses marry face. Paint splatters canvas. Summer Fruit with Summer Suits.
Is this what you’re looking for? Yes? Precisely? Great!
Citizen Cope - Live Painting
Are you a fan of Citizen Cope, or paintings of Citizen Cope, or live paintings, or just paintings in general? Were you unable to attend Citizen Cope’s birthday celebration in 2007? Well, this painting that was painted live at Webster Hall on Citizen Cope’s birthday can be the perfect thing to make up for that!
Is St. Elsa otherworldly? What does she see when she’s peeking through? An eyelift, an eyepull, she takes notice of her face shape. An earful from the output of a mirror that sounds awful. She’s part alien yet utterly of this world.
Part of Pete Nawara’s earliest works in his Mirror Conspiracy period, St. Elsa captures a subject hellbent on self reflection. She’s looking at herself, looking out at you, looking in. There is a balance between the lightest mood of preparation and the heavy feeling of introspection. Light and dark. One Elsa lifts herself up while the other weighs herself down. Her right side, dressed in a maze, wondering how she will get out, her left side, alluding to the fact that she already knows the solve, if only she can see it.
Do you, or does someone you know have a giant wall that needs a giant art?! This piece is for you! It will make an impact on your life and home.
